All-Star closing pitcher Brian Wilson and the rest of the 2010 World Series Champion, San Francisco Giants, made their way to the White House to be personally congratulated by President Barack Obama. The Giants gave the president a No. 44 team jersey which is a standard gift when a team that has won a championship visits the White House, as well as a bat emblazoned with Obama’s name and signed by the entire team. This lead to Obama’s reaction to simply say “That’s beautiful.”

During the 25-minute ceremony, the president moved his focus to the players. When talking about Brian Wilson he joked, “Then there’s the guy with the beard. I do fear it.” President Obama finished off by saying, “Underneath Brian’s beard, and the Spandex tuxedo and the sea captain costume and the cleats with his face on them, is also one of the most dominant closers in baseball.’’
